Issue - v1999_09 Consumer Alert! Rimadyl Chewables Taste Too Good! There's good news and bad news in Rimadyl-land. The good news is that the pill for arthritis is now available as a flavored chewable.
The bad news is that the aroma and flavor are so good that some dogs may go for an extra helping. That could be deadly. One dog climbed up on a desk to get to an unopened bottle on a shelf. He ripped through the bottle and ate 30 pills of 100 milligrams each. His owner induced vomiting and rushed him to the emergency room. He survived the initial emergency. Rimadyl continues to help many dogs, and kill a few along the way. Pfizer has said it will improve its education of vets and owners about the side effects. We'll see. In the meantime, visit the Senior Dogs website for the latest from the BARKS group, (Be Aware of Rimadyl's Known Side-effects): http://www.srdogs.com/Pages/barks.html For additional information, you can also check the two articles on the GoodDogMagazine.com: Product Test Report: We Put I To The Test |
